In Sex Addicts Anonymous we are a fellowship of men and women who share our experience, strength, and hope with each other for the purpose of finding freedom from addictive sexual behavior and helping others recover from sex addiction.
Our meetings offer an accepting, non-threatening environment where we can share our common struggles and learn how to apply the principles of the Twelve Steps to our everyday lives.
The only requirement for membership is a desire to stop addictive sexual behavior. There are no fees or dues. Our primary purpose is to stay sober and help other sex addicts to achieve sobriety.
Without help it is too much for us. Our stories disclose in a general way what we used to be like, what happened, and what we are like now. If you have decided you want what we have and are willing to go to any length to get it - then you are ready to take certain steps. SAA is a fellowship that promotes the 12 step program as the basis of recovery in an addict’s life.
Anonymity
This principle is embedded in the traditions of SAA just as it has been an integral part of the success of AA for over 75 years. It means that the meetings are a safe place for individual members to share the exact nature of their condition. As SAA members we are not to discuss what has been said in the mee
We are always accepting new people in our meetings!
This is a spiritual program, not a religious one. We are not aligned with any particular denomination but we must become willing to grow along spiritual lines. Our 12- step resources are offered strictly in the spirit of Recovery, we cannot learn about Recovery unless we read about it. SAA resources may change from time to time. Our program is based on the 12 Steps and 12 Traditions of Alcoholics Anonymous, but we are not affiliated with AA or any other organization or agency. Recovery literature contains strong suggestions that teach us to live life on lifes terms without the need to act out. No one is obligated to follow any of the suggestions in a 12 step program. However, we have found that the more willing an addict is to keep an open mind, the better his/her chances of living a sober, content, and useful life will be.
